As an opinion: Col Neil Joynes QGM turned a blind eye when multiple senior members of his Headquarters at 11 EOD & Search Regiment had extra marital affairs and other relationships with a very young female soldier, many ranks beneath them. Not only did Neil Joynes compromise his own integrity by failing to discipline those members of his Headquarters who had acted in such a vile manner, he compromised the integrity of the British Army, by presiding over their prompt re-assignment and in several cases their immediate promotion. The British Army's records on the out of cycle re-assignment of so many senior individuals supports this opinion.
As someone recognised for his Gallantry by the previous monarch, he seemed to show very little of it in the face of the feral and illegal behaviors exhibited by his own staff.
That apparent conduct needs to be permanently recognised and recorded. That young woman is someone's daughter and was yet another member of the Armed Forces treated like a piece of meat by her superiors, who then enjoyed rapid advancement in their careers as a direct result of their obnoxious behaviour.
This page stays as testimony to Neil Joynes apparent conduct towards a young female soldier and the rest of his Regiment, until those individuals who were rewarded for their conduct are appropriately investigated and sanctioned for their vile behaviour towards young women, their Regiment and in several cases their own families.
The British Army must change, but it is not a faceless problem: here is one of the many faces that needs to change their conduct, if even a fraction of what has been reported is true.
This page is part of a long process to ensure that women within 11 EOD & Search Regiment are valued as part of that organisation and not treated as sexual objects, trophies or badges to be earned by those in its Regimental Headquarters.
Separate pages dedicated to the reported individuals concerned will be made available.
The status quo must be changed. This misogynistic, deceitful organisation cannot be allowed to continue in its current form. Women are not property or tokens to be traded as part of a promotion process, that financially incentivises this conduct.
